Quinoa Breakfast Bowl Benefits

Some people do not eat breakfast, others eat a donut, many people eat cereals, some have discovered the benefits of a quinoa breakfast bowl. Breakfast is an important meal as it sets the tone for the day. What we feed our body to get started with work and daily to-dos will determine our level of energy until lunch time (and avoid the mid morning crash).

What is Quinoa ?

Quinoa comes from the Andean region and has been used as far back as 3000 years by the Incas who considered it sacred and called it “the Mother grain”. Quinoa is a grain, closer to buckwheat than cereal and is grown for its edible seeds. Once harvested the coating must be removed because of its bitter taste. The seeds are boiled before eating. This grain is so versatile that it can be used in a wide variety of dishes, notably as a healthier replacement for rice and pasta. Quinoa has become so popular that the price has tripled over a decade. For a healthy start to your day you can have a quinoa breakfast bowl.

Why eat a quinoa Breakfast Bowl ?

Quinoa is rich in vitamins, dietary fiber, minerals and proteins packed with essential amino acids (meaning it has to come from an exterior source), nutrients essential in all the metabolic processes, although the cooking method reduces the nutrition benefits. Today healthy eating is synonymous of avoiding too much carbs, starches and sugars but our body needs energy to burn, especially in the morning to get going.

Especially if your healthy lifestyle includes a daily workout, you do need fuel to get you through the day and get you safely through your workout. Because it’s low on calories but contains a small amount of carbs, a quinoa breakfast bowl is your morning meal of choice.
